Initial Setup

Get your website protected in 5 minutes with AtomicEdge WAF.

Step 1: Create Your Account

  1. Visit AtomicEdge and click "Sign Up"
  2. Enter your details:
    • Email address
    • Secure password
    • Company name (optional)
  3. Choose your plan:
    • Free: Basic protection for personal sites
    • Pro: Advanced features for business sites
    • Enterprise: Custom solutions for high-traffic sites
  4. Verify your email - Check your inbox and click the confirmation link

Step 2: Add Your First Website

Once logged into your dashboard:

  1. Click "Add New Site" in your dashboard
  2. Enter your website details:
    • Domain: Your website URL (e.g., example.com)
    • Backend IP: Your current server's IP address
    • Description: Optional site description

Finding Your Backend IP

Your backend IP is where your website is currently hosted:

  • Shared hosting: Contact your hosting provider
  • VPS/Dedicated: Your server's IP address
  • Cloud hosting: Check your hosting control panel
  • CDN users: Your origin server IP (not the CDN IP)

Example configurations:

Domain: example.com
Backend IP: 192.168.1.100

Domain: shop.example.com  
Backend IP: 203.0.113.50

Domain: blog.example.com
Backend IP: origin.myblog.com

Step 3: Get Your WAF Endpoint

After adding your site, AtomicEdge provides:

  • WAF Endpoint IP: Your dedicated protection IP (e.g., 198.51.100.10)
  • Endpoint Hostname: Alternative CNAME target
  • SSL Certificate: Automatically generated and managed
  • Protection Status: Shows when your WAF is ready

Important: Write down your WAF endpoint IP - you'll need it for DNS configuration.

Step 4: Configure Site Settings

Basic Settings

  • Site Name: Friendly name for your dashboard
  • Backend IP: Your origin server (can be changed later)
  • SSL Mode: Automatic HTTPS handling

Security Settings

  • Protection Level:
    • Low: Minimal blocking, fewer false positives
    • Medium: Balanced protection (recommended)
    • High: Maximum security, may block some legitimate traffic
  • Bot Protection: Block automated traffic
  • Geographic Blocking: Restrict access by country

Step 5: Review Protection Rules

AtomicEdge comes with comprehensive protection enabled by default:

Core Protection Rules

  • SQL Injection: Database attack prevention
  • XSS Protection: Cross-site scripting blocking
  • File Inclusion: Remote/local file inclusion attacks
  • Command Injection: System command execution attempts

Specialized Rules

  • WordPress: CMS-specific protection (auto-detected)
  • E-commerce: Shopping cart and payment protection
  • API Protection: REST/GraphQL endpoint security

Custom Rules

  • IP Whitelisting: Allow trusted sources
  • Path Exclusions: Bypass protection for specific URLs
  • Custom Patterns: Block specific attack signatures

Common Setup Issues

"Backend IP not responding"

  • Verify your server IP is correct
  • Check firewall settings allow HTTP/HTTPS traffic
  • Ensure your website is accessible from the internet

"Domain already exists"

  • Each domain can only be protected by one AtomicEdge account
  • Contact support if you need to transfer a domain

"SSL certificate pending"

  • SSL certificates take 1-5 minutes to generate
  • Ensure your domain points to AtomicEdge (DNS must be updated first)
  • Check that port 443 is open on your origin server
